The previous studies have delineated the weakness and drawbacks of e-waste practices in various organisations. However, these failed to address major issues relating effective management, hence high rate obsolescence electronic equipment continues grow becoming fastest growing waste stream world. Organisations are paying little attention environmental aspects, there is limited research surrounding South African primary motivation study was determine current organisations contribute sustainable management. sample drawn from ten viewpoint Information Technology (IT) professionals managers through semi-structured interviews. findings revealed that a lack awareness programme organisations, not conducted during procurement process no strategy, budget provided purchase equipment, hardware’s software’s upgraded extend life span data managed appropriately, recycling capacity, obsolete properly disposed of, non-conformance legislations due enforcement. recommends an increased be prior purchasing, develop provide sufficient environmentally friendly less harmful environment. should reduce manage e-waste.
